We have excellent sermons today from Bishop Roy, as well as Revs Jack and Brysn. Not surprisingly there is a fair amount of talk in the sermons about the Father, Son and Holy Ghost. In the Collect, we acknowledge there is a Triune God, that is to say there are three aspects of God; God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Ghost. A Triune God means literally Three in One, not three separate Gods or godlets, but a single being with three aspects. How does this work? The honest answer is – WE DON’T KNOW, but there is more. The text serving as this morning’s Epistle came from the Book of Revelation and describes Heaven. Heaven is the real world, so how do we get to the real world from these Shadowlands? There is but one way, Jesus Christ the righteous; and he is the Propitiation for our sins. In the Gospel, Jesus tells us what we need to do to get into heaven. It all comes together.
