ENGLISH CHURCH HUMOR:
Bishop Bloomfield of the North of England once preached, while a young man, at Chesterfield on the text, “The Fool hath said in his heart, there is no God.” Anxious to know how his sermon had been received, he asked one of the elder parishioners at the rear door, “How did you like the sermon, friend?” “Well, Mr. Bloomfield,” replied the man, “I thought the sermon was well and good; but I dis'agre wi' ye.” “And why is that?” asked Bloomfield. The elder responded, “Well, sir, I tend to believe there be a God after all.”
