Before the Battle of Chancellorsville, Major General Joseph Hooker famously stated, “I have the finest army on the planet. I have the finest army the sun ever shone on. … If the enemy does not run, God help them. May God have mercy on General Lee, for I will have none.” This quote reflects his confidence and bravado as he anticipated a decisive victory against General Robert E. Lee's army.

NOTE: If you have ever wondered where the term 'Hooker" for prostitute originated, check it out. It was the camp followers Hooker encouraged for his army. Apparently, that proved a major distraction. :-)
