OUR LORD JESUS CHJRIST AS THE TREE OF LIFE by Bishop Jerry Ogles
Tree is known by its fruits – Jesus is the Light of Life
Genesis 2:8-9 “And the LORD God planted a garden eastward in Eden; and there he put the man whom he had formed. And out of the ground made the LORD God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil.”
16-17 “And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat:
But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.”
Satan’s lie!
1. Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?
Satan always begins in trying to get us to question God, and in so doing, he misquotes God!
2 And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden:
3 But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.
4 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:
In the second place, Satan will flatly deny the Word of God!
5 For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.
The universal desire of the political world – to be like God – even to be God!
6 And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat
. Eve’s own proclivity to pride – fleshly desire in taste, appealing to the eye, desire to be wise like unto God.
7 And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons.
Result – carnal knowledge, shame, fear, inability to hide their sin.
Genesis 3:22-24 - And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever.
God was compelled to commit the first act of killing – an innocent animal (perhaps a lamb) to cover the nakedness (sin) of Adam and Eve.
It is no coincident that the Tree of Life is mentioned in both Genesis – the beginning – and Revelations – the ending.
Where is the Tree of Life Today?
Revelation 2:7 - He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God.
Jesus is represented in that Tree of Life.
– John 8:12
“Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.”
Revelation 22:14 - Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.
Revelation 22:2 - In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.
My friends, the Breads of Heaven is the fruit of the Tree of Life – have you eaten your Bread today?
God bless you until next time.
Good bye.
