ALEXANDER THE GREAT - HE'S DEAD!

While visiting our Church in Skopje, Macedonia, a few years ago, one of the deacons was giving me a tour of the city. He proudly showed me scores of monuments of political leaders of the past; but when we came to the central square of the city, we saw a huge monument - an obelisk about one hundred feet high - that depicted a warrior sitting astride a horse with a lance. My guide said proudly, "That, sir, is Alexander the Great," to which I responded, "Is he a member of our church?" The guide hesitated and looked at me quizzically, "No, sir - He's DEAD!" (another stupid American, no doubt!).
